Sales channels can accumulate in the system over years and some may no longer be applicable. Sales Channel Management in the IDI Desktop Client lets you set Start/End Dates on sales channels to mark them as inactive.
Setting Start and End date on Sales Channels
The Sale Channel Management dialog (Customer Management > Sales Channels) now displays the Start and End Dates for the selected channel (if they have been set).

Setting Start and End Dates
This option is available when you add or edit a sales channel. The Add/Edit Sales Organization dialog has a new Main tab that provides fields to set Start and End Dates. Neither of these fields are required. In addition, the following fields that were formerly on the Contact tab are now shown on the Main tab: Sales Code, Sales Type, Commission, Tax Number and Agent ID.

Note:
The Contact tab still has Start/End date fields. These fields never drove any functionality outside of saving these values in the SalesEntity table; nothing has changed with these fields, as they continue to not drive any functionality.
Sales Channel Search Enhancements
All areas in the IDI platform where you can search sales channels now account for end-dated sales channels.

Partial Search – Sales Matches Dialog
The Sales Matches dialog is displayed when you perform a partial search by entering search criteria. By default this search filters out channels with an end date that precedes the current date (today). You can choose to include end-dated channels in the results by selecting the Show Inactive check box.
Note:
When you choose to show inactive channels, the dialog will permit you to select and use them, as you are making a conscious decision to display them. This is the only method by which you can select and use inactive channels.

Full Search – Sales Tree Dialog
The Sales Tree dialog is displayed when you perform a search without using any limiting criteria. In this case any channels with an end date that precedes the current date are greyed out, italicized, and labeled as Inactive. If you select an inactive sales channel, the OK button is disabled to prevent you from using an inactive channel.

Inactive channels are displayed here because they can have active children beneath them, and the expand/collapse functionality to view children within a hierarchy requires these inactive entities to still be displayed (even though they will not be selectable).
Where Search Enhancements Apply
These enhancements apply to the following areas that support sales channel search:
Sales Identity tab on Admin Console > Security > Users
Sales Channel fields in Admin Console > Security > Profiles > User Limit to Profiles
Front Office Transaction Search in CostGuard Client > POS Front Office > Transaction Search
The following areas of POS:
Make Sale
Make Sales Request
Make Quick Sale
(Make) Bulk Retail Sale
Make Return Request
Make Receive Return
Swap Equipment
Editing or Creating a Customer or Prospect
Customer Care and Orders
In Customer Care, when editing or creating a new customer or prospect, the Sales Associate field in the Basic Information section only returns matching Sales Associates that are ACTIVE when typing in a value. The same is true when editing an existing order or creating a new order in the Orders web app.
