Cut, Copy and Paste Commands

• The Copy command lets you duplicate (or create a copy of) a selected catalog item. Once you copy the item, you can move it from one location to another in the Product Catalog. The Paste New Link and Paste New Instance commands become active after Copy is selected.

  Note

  The keyboard shortcut, Ctrl + C copies an item to the clipboard. The keyboard shortcut, Ctrl + V pastes the item from the clipboard.

  • The Cut command enables you to move a catalog item from its original location. Once an item has been cut the Paste commands becomes active. Use the Paste New Link and Paste New Instance commands to place the catalog item in the desired location within the Product Catalog.

    • To undo the Cut command, right-click and select View Clipboard. See View Clipboard Command for more information.

• The Paste New Link command enables you to place a previously copied/cut catalog item into the Product Catalog tree in the location you indicate. The SKU and name of the copied/cut catalog item are the same SKU and name as the original catalog item that was copied. You can view links for a catalog item by right-clicking and selecting View Links.

  A small blue arrow displayed on the catalog item icon indicates a linked catalog item.

• The Paste New Instance command enables you to place previously copied/cut catalog items into the Product Catalog tree in the location you indicate. Paste New Instance creates items like the cut or copied items, but gives them new IDs so changes made to either the old or new items do not affect the other. When you click Paste New Instance, the Past New Instance Options window is displayed.

  

  This window allows you to select which auxiliary information in the cut or copied items is included in the newly created items. If an option is selected, but does not apply to the item type, it will be ignored. For example, Work Plans only apply to Services, so if you are creating a new Product and have Work Plans checked as an option, the system ignores Work Plans. The following table lists which option applies to the various catalog item types.

* Applies only if the item's Product Class is "Calling Group."

• Check the options you want and click OK. The newly created items are pasted in that location. If you click Cancel, the items are not pasted, but remain in the clipboard. See View Clipboard Command.

• The Paste Special command enables you to copy/cut and paste a new instance of a folder or item with or without its children, paste a new link, or create a new folder based upon an existing one. Paste Special displays a window that enables you to choose Paste New Link, Paste New Instance, or Create New Folders.

  Selecting the Paste New Instance option enables Paste Without Children and upon clicking OK, opens the Paste New Instance Options window (see above).

  Select Create New Folders to create a copy of just the folder, without the contents, in the location you indicate in the Product Catalog tree. Select Copy Alias and Copy Start/End Date to copy this information to the new folder.

  

• Click OK.
