Register policies include such considerations as cash and reconciliation, discounts, allowed overage and shortage amounts, refund amount limits, types of tender accepted and installment plans. Register policies can be set at any parent level and inherited down -- or they can be overridden at any child level.
To configure register policies:
Access the location whose register policies you want to configure.
Right-click the location and select Register Policy from the shortcut menu.
Inheritance/Override Options
The inheritance/override options for starting the policy configuration depend in the location level (Global, Regional/Franchise, or Store).
At the global level there is no inheritance/override option; however, you can configure register policy setting s for different store types to be inherited for all stores of that type globally. Once you've made adjustments to a store type, you can choose to use those settings for all store types. A store type is a distribution channel such as a retail store, kiosk or warehouse. These are set in in your system via POS Back Office > Settings > Store Types.

To make changes to register policy settings for a Store Type, select the Store Type from the list, make your changes, and then apply or save.
Once you've made changes to one or more Store Types, you can apply a Store Type's setup to all stores on a global basis configure register policies for all stores by clicking Use the same configuration settings for All Store Types. This displays a dialog for selecting the Store Type whose register policy settings you want to apply to all stores. The drop-down selector lists any Store Type where you've made adjustments

You can do this on each of the three tabs (Main, Refund/Cash Back, and Tender).
At the Region/Franchise level, you have the Use the same configuration settings for All Store Types option as you do for global, and you also have the option to inherit or override the Global register policy settings. This lets you make adjustments for a specific region or franchise as needed. You also have the option to Inherit or Override Global settings at the selected Region/Franchise. The Inherit option disables all settings for the current tab Main, Refund/Cash Back, Tender. The Override option makes all fields editable. The Use the same configuration settings for All Store Types and Inherit/Override options can be selected independently for each tab.

At the Store level there is no option to Use the same configuration settings for All Store Types. The Inherit/Override options apply to the region or franchise location where the store resides.

The above behavior applies for register policy configuration at all location levels. Other than that, the content of each tab is the same for all location levels. The register policy form for store level is shown in each of the topics below.
