Setting Up Register Policies for Register Management

Prev Next

Register Management transactions are governed by Cash/Reconciliation rules which can be defined on a global, regional, or store basis. These rules are configurable via the POS Back Office Location Configuration window.

  1. Open the POS Back Office Location Configuration window.

    1. From the main menu select Applications > POS Back Office > Locations.

    2. Right-click on global, or the region, or the store and select Register Policy.

  2. Configure the following rules on the Cash/Reconciliation tab.

    Initial Float

Initial Float is the amount of cash with which the register will start the day or shift. The value defined in the register policy represents the default value.

    Add Cash Alert level

The Add Cash Level represents the cash amount that will trigger an alert if the current cash amount falls below this level.

    Skim Alert Level

The cash amount that will trigger an alert when the current cash amount exceeds it. (If exceeded, the No Sale window opens with the transaction type set to Skim Cash at the start of any transaction.)

    Allow Over/Short Amount

By designating an Over or Short Amount, you can provide some variance during the reconciliation process. (Only a user with the POS / Front Office / Drawer / Reconcile / Override Policy Thresholds permission can override this policy rule using the Manager Override form.)

    Show System Totals

If you check the Show System Totals radio button, the system totals (expected tender amounts) will display on the final reconciliation wizard page.

    Force Daily Reconcile

If you check the Force Daily Reconcile box, a daily reconciliation must be performed for the register. (Only a user with the POS / Front Office / Drawer / Reconcile / Override Policy Thresholds permission can override this policy rule using the Manager Override form.)

  3. Configure the following rule on the Tender tab.

    Tender Type - Require Count
