Configuring a Flat Promotion

To configure a Flat Promotion, select the Promotion type Flat then use the wizard forms to complete the configuration. Click Next on completing each form.

Promotion Rules

Promotion Rules specify how the promotion interacts with other promotions during a sale.

• Combination Rules determine how promotions can be combined in a single sale.

  • Maximum promotion use per sale - The Maximum promotion use per sale number is used to specify the maximum number of times the promotion can be applied per sale. For example, if you enter 2, and a customer purchases three of the eligible items, only two are discounted.

  If left empty, the promotion can be applied an unlimited number of times per sale.

• Allow this promotion if other promotions have been used - Check this to combine this promotion with other promotions. If you do not check this rule, this promotion will be assigned only if it provides the highest discount possible for the sale. If you check this rule, you can also select:

  • Allow retail items to be reused for different promotions - Check to count retail items in this promotion toward the eligibility of other promotions that allow retail item reuse.

  Note

  Allow billable items to be reused for different promotions can only be applied to Bundled promotions. It is disabled (not selectable) for flat promotions.

• Allow in combination with on-the-fly discounts - Check to count items that have been given an on-the-fly discount (not part of an automatic promotion) toward the eligibility of this promotion.

  An on-the-fly discount is simply an additional amount or percentage given on an item during a sale. When this option is selected, any item within the Promotion can have a percentage or amount taken off from it (an on-the-fly discount) and the Promotion still gets calculated. If the this option is not checked and a discount is given, that particular item then is no longer considered for the promotion and the Promotion amount may not be given. In order for a Promotion to be in effect when this option is not selected, all items within the Promotion must be purchased at full price.

  For example, if this promotion includes a $10 discount on a handset and the sales representative creates a new discount of $5 on a handset, the customer would receive a total of $15 off that handset. If this option is not checked, the customer would receive only the $5 on-the-fly discount.

• Discounting Rules specify the order in which the discount is applied.

  • Apply discount to low-priced items first - Check to apply discounts to the lowest priced items first.

  • Apply discount to high-priced items first - Check to apply discounts to the highest priced items first.

Promotion Eligibility

The Promotion Eligibility window lets you determine which products will be part of the promotion. You can choose to include all Retail Products, all products within a Catalog Group, all products within a Catalog Category, or specific catalog items.

• Specify the items to be discounted.

  • Check All retail products are eligible for this promotion if all products designated as retail products are eligible for this promotion.

  Or

  • Specify the New Item based on catalog type:

    • Catalog Item - Lets you specify individual catalog items.

If you select an AdvancePay Product, the associated Prices Points are listed for selection. You may select multiple Price Points. If you do not select any specific Price Points, all Price Points are considered eligible.

• Catalog Group - Lets you choose specific catalog groups.

  

• Catalog Category - Lets you choose specific product categories.

  

• Click Add to add your selection to the list below.

• Continue adding items or groups as necessary.

Promotion Exceptions

This lets you specify the catalog items you want to exclude from the promotion.

If you have chosen to include all retail products, or a group of products, in the promotion, you can select specific items to exclude.

For example, if you checked All retail products are eligible for this promotion on the Promotion Eligibility window, you can prevent a particular item from being included in the promotion by entering its SKU in this window.

• Search for the catalog item in the New Item area. For information on finding catalog items, see Find Product, Find Product.

  If you select an AdvancePay Product, the associated Prices Points are listed for selection. You may select multiple Price Points. If you do not select any specific Price Points, all Price Points are excluded.

• Click Add to add the item to the "exclude" list.

• Continue adding items as necessary.

Promotion Value window

Use this window to tell the system how much the promotion is worth. Your discounted amount can be based on a specific amount of money or on a percentage of the value of the eligible items.

• Select the Discount Type.

  • Amount - A specific dollar figure to be subtracted from the total purchase.

  • Percentage - A percentage of the purchased eligible items' total value to be subtracted from the total purchase.

• Enter the Discount Value.

  • If you selected Amount, the discount value you enter will be a dollar amount. For example, if you enter 15.5, the discount would be $15.50 off the eligible items.

  • If you selected Percentage, the discount value you enter will be the percent. For example, if you 15.5, the discount would be 15.5% off the total value of the eligible item.

Promotion Confirmation

Review the promotion configuration. If you need to make changes, use the Back button to return to the appropriate window and make your corrections. When the configuration is correct, click Finish. This saves the configuration and closes the wizard.
