Changes to markets may be made to address various situations. For example, a customer's address may change and prompt the need to verify that they are still within the associated market, or a customer may purchase additional accounts which need to have a market assigned.
Changes to markets can be either direct or indirect.
A direct market change can be made by a permissioned user (via the drop down list)
An indirect market change is the result of a system or custom validation process
Markets can be locked or unlocked on a customer account.

The Lock icon appears either unlocked (as above) or locked.
A locked market means that the customer's market cannot be changed by a system or custom process (indirect change) that auto-assigns the market. Only a manual edit can be made to the market (by a permissioned user), which restricts it from being changed by a system or custom process.
An unlocked market indicates that it can be updated or changed, resulting from a system or custom process (an indirect change) that auto-assigns the market.
Changing a Customer's Market:
Access the customer account and select Edit Customer from the Account menu.
Select a market from the drop down list and click Save. (Whether this market is locked or unlocked has no impact.)
The system verifies the change by performing an address/account validation per existing business rules.
If validation fails, you are prompted to select bypass or cancel.
Note
The market change is completed even if bypass is selected and any violation of address validation is found.
The Market Change Detail form dialog is displayed.

Select a Change Reason (required) and enter a Description (optional).
Click Save.
Note
Both types of changes require the system to perform an address/customer account validation.
Changing a Customer's Market Lock:
Access the customer account and select Edit Customer from the Account menu.
Click the Lock icon next the market field to change it to either locked or unlocked.
Respond to the prompt to continue.
The icon changes to either locked or unlocked.
