The User File Import process in Security allows administrators to make changes to user accounts in bulk including adding new users or updating existing ones. In situations where you need to add or make changes to a large amount of user records at the same time this can significantly reduce the time needed versus managing users directly through the User screens.

Results:
Added: A new user record was created
Updated: An existing user record had at least one property updated
Skipped: A record matched an existing user but no property changes were found in the file
Error:
User record could not be created/updated. You can hover over the error indicator to see the specific issue.
Updating Existing User Accounts
The easiest way to update existing user accounts is to search for them in the User Search and then export the results to a CSV file. The CSV file created by the User Export can be used for the Import.
.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-08-05T20%3A08%3A28Z&se=2026-08-05T20%3A20%3A28Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=%2FaeOUx6FFTA157qs%2BWnSHBN4Q7h5wuqrgqqzPSHe%2Fdo%3D)
Edit the file using a CSV editor (e.g. notepad or Excel) and edit the accounts you need to update. Accounts in the file you do not want to change can be removed. If they are left with no changes the system will simply skip the rows.

Please Note:
Be sure to save your file as a CSV. Some spreadsheet applications will attempt to automatically convert a file to their native format.
In this example, you would see 1 record that was updated and 3 that were skipped. The 3 skipped records would be because the system did not detect any differences between the records in the file and what is already configured on the accounts.
Bulk Adding Roles and Environment Access
The User File Import allows you to bulk add Role assignments and Environment access to user accounts as well.
On the file preview screen, you have the ability to select Environments and Roles that you want to assign to the user records.
.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-08-05T20%3A08%3A28Z&se=2026-08-05T20%3A20%3A28Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=%2FaeOUx6FFTA157qs%2BWnSHBN4Q7h5wuqrgqqzPSHe%2Fdo%3D)
Roles can be assigned to accounts without any other changes in the user record. Changes in only role assignment for a record will yield an Updated result when the file is imported.
