Adding Guided Assignment Starting Codes

Prev Next

Guided Assignment Starting Codes are maintained in Product Management.

You can add/edit Starting Codes from the following locations in the IDI Desktop Client:

  • The Applications menu

    • Select Product Management > Guided Assignment Starting Codes > New Starting Code(s).

  • The Guided Assignment Starting Code Search Results window

    • Select New/Edit from the shortcut menu.

  • The Active Guided Assignment Starting Codes window

    • Select New/Edit from the shortcut menu.

This opens the Add/Edit Guided Assignment Starting Code(s) window.

      AddGAStartingCodes

If several Starting Codes have the same Guided Assignment Flow, Start and End Dates, and choices for forcing selection and displaying the Service Information Page, you can add them all on the same Adding Guided Assignment Code(s) window.

Enter the following information and click Save when you're done:

Starting Code(s)

The Starting Code is a well-known value you can enter when making a sale to begin a particular Guided Assignment sales flow. You add one or more Starting Codes by entering one Starting Code per line in the Starting Code(s) portion of the window. You can use spaces within the Starting Code, such as Employee's Special or New Wireless Service.

Starting Codes must be unique. If you enter a duplicate, when you click Save, an information box is displayed listing the duplicates and informing you the new duplicates will be ignored.

DuplicateStartingCodes

  • Click Yes to continue adding new starting codes on the New Starting Code(s) window with the duplicate removed from the list.

    OR

Click No to not continue. You are returned to the New Starting Code(s) window where you can cancel the addition or cut the duplicate starting code and continue adding other new starting codes.

Start/End Dates

The Start Date is the date the Starting Codes are available for use in sales flows.

The End Date is the date the Starting Codes are no longer available for sales flows. If you know when you want this Starting Code's availability to end, enter the End Date. This date can be left blank. If you decide at a later time to discontinue this Starting Code, you can edit the Starting Code and enter the End Date then.

Service Option

The Service Option determines whether the Starting Code should create a new service, update an existing service, or let the user decide during the flow.

Select one of the following options from the list.

  • Create New Service - During the sales flow, the Service Option page is skipped and the Service Information page is displayed upon clicking Next.

  • Modify Existing Service - During the sales flow, the Service Option page is skipped and the appropriate wizard page is displayed upon clicking Next.

  • User Entered - During the sales flow, the Service Option page is displayed so that the CSR can decide to create a new service, modify a service from the current order, or modify one of the customer's existing services.

Guided Assignment Flow

The Guided Assignment Flow is the item within the Product Catalog that is evaluated or assigned as a result of selecting the Starting Code from the POS Find Catalog Item window during Make Sale or Make Sales Request.

The flow may be:

  • a billing item (such as a Product, Package, Contract, Discount, or Pricing Plan)

  • a retail product (such as a battery or handset)

  • a folder within the Product Catalog having a SKU specified and is a Guided Assignment Folder Type

For billing items and retail products, the item is assigned and any Guided Assignment flow associated with that item's Related Items Folder property is also evaluated. This is the same process as if the item was selected directly.

For folders, the folder is evaluated and the resulting Guided Assignment flow is processed. This is the same process as if the folder was selected directly.

    To select a flow:

  • Select the criteria (for example, SKU or Any) from the Find Flow drop-down list.

    StartCodeFindFlowList

  • Enter the value related to that type (such as Handset*). Wildcards are accepted.

  • Click the magnifying glass to search. icoMagnifyingGlass If it is an exact match, the name of the Guided Assignment Flow is entered in Flow.

If there is not an exact match, the Guided Assignment Starting Code Search window is displayed with a list that fits the criteria.

    GAFlowSearchRslts

  • Double-click the desired item to populate the Flow field.

Force service selection for retail only flows

In the case of a Guided Assignment Flow that only results in retail items being assigned, the Force service selection for retail only flows option forces those retail items to be associated with a new or existing service (based on the Service Option).

Display Service Information Page

The Display Service Information Page indicates whether the Service Information Page is displayed in the POS wizard as a result of selecting this Starting Code. This option is particularly useful for skipping the page during billing-only or accessory-only flows.

Notes:

  • If the Service Option is set to Create New Service, then this check box must be checked because the Service Information Page must be displayed for new services. Failure to check this check box when Create New Service is selected will result in an error during the sale.

  • If the Guided Assignment flow results in a Handset or SIM Card being assigned, the Service Information page is displayed even if this option is unchecked. The sale of new equipment requires that the Service Information page be displayed.

Allow On Change Features

Check this option to allow this starting code to be used in the change features wizard.

Select Service First

Check this option to force the selection of an existing service before any other items are presented for sale.

The following rules apply to this option:

  • If you select the Service Option "Create New Service," this check box is not available.

  • If you check Select service first, the Force service selection for retail-only flows check box is checked automatically and you cannot clear it.
