There are two distinct sections – one to search for an existing customer, and the other to create a new customer.
Only one section can be used at a time depending on your intent.

Customer Search
Use this section to search for an existing customer, with a service number, account number and customer name.
If the customer is located, you can continue with a make sale.
This search enforces robust (exact match) criteria to ensure existing accounts are found. This search DOES NOT support creating a new customer.
Create New Customer
This section requires complete customer information (full name and valid address).
It enforces rules such as address validation and no wild cards.
Using this search method:
If no match is found (the expected result), you can proceed in the Make Sale wizard to create a new account
If one or more matches are found, you should work with the customer to select the correct match and go forward with the existing account.
If choosing to create a new account, the New Customer window is populated with the information entered for the search.
If none of the accounts found match the customer, users with manager override permission can override the search results and create a new account.
