In this example, IDI Telecom has created a Reward Program to reward customers for generating revenue.

This Reward Program gives their customers five reward points for services containing the specified products resulting in a billed total of $50 or less, and 10 reward points for services containing the specified products resulting in a billed total of more than $50. Each reward point earned is worth $0.01 when used as tender for a POS purchase or bill payment.

The customer account was established 20 months ago. At billing, the total amount due is $80, from which $45 is from the contributing products. Therefore, the rewards discount results in a reward of 5 points being added to the existing balance.

This account has been billed 20 times, no points have expired, and the customer has not used any points for tendering.

A review of the customer account on the Balances tab, after selecting Reward Points from the list, shows a balance of 100 points which is worth $100.

(20 bill cycles x 5 points) = 100 Reward Points

100 Reward Points x $.01 conversion rate = $1.00

The customer can visit a POS location and use these points towards a POS purchase or tendering of a bill payment. To convert the points and apply them to the transaction, the associate much choose the tender type whose base tender type is Reward Cash.
