Distance Types

Prev Next

This table defines distance types which are used to determine rates. System distance types are maintained by IDI Billing Solutions. You can add user-defined distance types.

Notes:

  • User-defined distance types can be used with the Area and Pt-To-Pt rating methods only.

  • User-defined distance types created for use with the Area rating method are evaluated for rating in ascending order by distance type ID (the order they are added to the system).

To set up and maintain the Distance Types table:

  1. Under Data Management double-click Distance Types. This displays the Distance Types window.

The Distance Types window contains the following information.

    ID

System-generated identifier that uniquely identifies this record.

    Description

    Describes the distance type.

    Defined By

Specifies whether the distance type is user-defined or defined by the system. System-defined distance types cannot deleted, and generally should not be edited.

Note

Distance Types that you add to the list are considered User Defined Distance Types. You can modify an existing System Defined Distance Type, but the ID number will still be associated with the original System Defined Description.

Warning

Modifying system distance types may cause the system to abort during the rating process. These types cannot be deleted.

The shortcut menu for this table lets you add, edit and delete distance types. See Working with Data Management Tables.
