A contract is the fundamental agreement between your company and your subscriber. It can be implied through the subscriber's acceptance of a set of services, features, and/or functions packaged by your company, or it can be formalized by an actual signed agreement that specifies the services, features and/or functions that are provided by your company during a defined period of time. In a formal agreement, a set of penalties may also be invoked should the contract be terminated or its term violated before its scheduled expiration date.
Contracts are created and maintained in the Product Catalog and are assigned to a customer or service number by the customer service rep. Contracts can only be created or linked at the root level of the Product Catalog or under a Folder or Package. Each Contract is made up of Contract Terms, which, in turn, contain Penalties and, for Minimum Usage Guarantee Term Type and Maximum Usage Guarantee Term Type, Term Details. Term Details are certain types of Usage or particular Products which contribute toward meeting the terms of the contract. Penalties are charges that are assessed if the customer does not meet the terms of the contract. Usage and Penalties are calculated at the end of each bill cycle, regardless of the Term Commitment.
