Bulk Retail Sale

Bulk Retail Sale lets you sell multiple serialized retail items of the same SKU at one time. After you select the item, you can enter a range of serial numbers to add to the order.

To perform a Bulk Retail Sale:

  1. Select Applications > POS Front Office > Bulk Retail Sale. This displays the Make Sale Wizard, Customer Search window.

  2. Find the existing customer (or create a new customer)

    1. Enter some search criteria to either locate an existing customer or create a new customer.

      Tip

      If you want to create a new customer, simply enter a letter (for example: Z) in the Customer Name field. This will ensure that an empty search results list is returned (making the search quicker).

      Search Criteria

      You can search with the following criteria:

      Service Number

      A unique number associated with an account.

      Account Number

      The Account Number is a unique number auto-generated by the system and assigned to a customer when entered into the system.

      Customer Name

      The name of the person or business on the account.

      Billing Contact Name

      The name of the individual to contact regarding billing-related questions or concerns.

      Social Security Number
      (last 4)

      The social security number entered, or displayed, is the social security number of the individual responsible for the account(s).

      Note

      When the SSN for a customer is returned after a search, the first five digits are hidden and the last four digits are displayed.

      Drivers License (last 4)

      The drivers license entered, or displayed, is the license number of the individual responsible for the account(s).

      Drivers License state

      The state where the drivers license was obtained for the individual responsible for the account(s).

    2. Click Search to display the Customer Search Results window with any matches, and options to proceed.

  3. Click Next. This displays the Bulk Retail Sale for [customer] window.

  4. Find the SKU of the serialized retail item.

    To search the POS Product Catalog window and add a product to the Make Sale window:

    Performing an Exact Match Search

    1. In the Find Catalog Item section, if you know the Description, Equipment ID, UPC, SKU, or Starting Code, enter it and click Search. UG template for Help.

      Equipment ID

      The ESN or MEID associated with the service's handset.

      UPC

      Universal Product Code (bar code). This criteria may be convenient to use if you have the actual product and a scanner with which to read the UPC.

      SKU

      A unique identifying number for a product. If you are looking for a specific product, package, discount, service, or pricing plan, enter that item's SKU.

      Starting Code

      The Starting Code is a well-known value you can enter when making a sale to begin a particular Guided Assignment sales flow.

      POSProdCatSearchType

      If the item is a stand-alone Catalog Item, it is added to the Item list.

      If the item is a Starting Code, the appropriate Guided Assignment flow is begun.

      Note

      You can shorten the search by selecting one of the criteria and entering the value.

    You can do a partial search by entering part of a number or name of a catalog item, or by typing an asterisk (*) to perform a wildcard search.

    Locating an Item to Sell

    1. Enter information into any of these fields, or none at all (to display everything in the catalog).

      SKU

      A unique ID for a product. If you know the SKU for a specific product, package, discount, service, or pricing plan, enter it to display just that item.

      Description

      If you know the words or phrase describing the product, enter them here. (Wildcards may be used.)

      USOC

      To look for items containing a Universal Service Order Code, enter that USOC. (Wildcards may be used.)

      Class of Service

      To search for products by Class of Service, select from the drop-down list

      Alias

      Provides a way of linking products to products in another system. If you are looking for items that contain a specific Alias, enter the desired Alias. (Wildcards may be used.)

      Catalog Group

      If you are looking for a product that is in a catalog group, select from the drop-down list.

      2. Click Search to display all products that match the specified search criteria.

    Selecting an Item to Sell

    1. To select a product from the search results, double-click the product's row, or right-click and choose Select.

      This will advance you to the next step of the sales process.

    Notes:

    • Only Retail Products can be added to a Bulk Retail Sale order. If you select a billed product, an "unable to to assign Billable Items" message is displayed.

    • Starting Codes may be used only if there no billable items in the Guided Assignment.

    When you have selected a serialized retail item, the product detail window is displayed.

  5. Click Bulk. This displays the Bulk Add Serial Numbers window.

  6. Enter the range of serial numbers and click OK.

    The Bulk Add Serial Numbers window lets you enter a range of serial numbers defined by a prefix (optional) a numeric range (From/To), and a suffix (optional).

    To add a range of serial numbers:

    1. Enter the prefix if needed.

    2. Enter the starting number of the range in the From field.

    3. Enter the ending number of the range in the To field.

    4. Enter the suffix if needed.

    5. Click Add. This adds the range of numbers to the Serial Numbers list.

    6. If you need to add more ranges, repeat steps 1-5.

    7. Click OK when you're done. This closes the Bulk Add Serial Numbers window and puts a shorthand definition for the bulk add in the Serial Number field of the Modify Serialized Items window. The shorthand definition indicates the quantity of serial numbers being added.

  7. Click Next. This validates the serial numbers and displays the Make Sale Summary window.

  8. Click Finish to add the items to the sale.

  9. Complete the sale.

    Once all the catalog items are listed on the Make Sale window, you can complete the request.

    1. Click Complete Sale. This opens the Complete Sale window displaying a print preview of the sale.

    2. Click Print Quote if you want a paper copy of the sale.

    3. Click Tender. This displays the Tender window. See Tendering the Sale.

    Note

    Calculation of Promotions and taxes takes place at Complete Sale.

Permissions

Enabled: Lets you add multiple Serial Numbers of the same SKU to an order at the same time.

Disabled: Bulk Retail Sale is not displayed on the Applications > POS Front Office menu or a customer's POS menu.
