You can assign multiple Limit Tos per folder. This can reduce the number of folders needed to support your Limit To options, facilitating development of your guided assignment flows, and maintenance of your Product Catalog. When more than one Limit To is applied, the system will observe/enforce this as an AND condition.
Both the New and Edit Limit To wizards (available via the context menu on a Product Catalog folder) support applying multiple existing Limit Tos to the selected folder. Once added to the current folder, you can apply the composite Limit To to additional folders via the Select Existing InfoScript option.
The View Limit To Configurations functionality lets you create new Limit Tos independent of any Product Catalog folder, and lets you edit existing Limit Tos, in which case the changes will apply to all folders to which the Limit To is assigned (if you choose to proceed).
New Limit To Wizard
The Assignment level page in the New Limit To wizard has an option for Will use one or more existing limit tos.
Selecting this option will bring you to a page in the Limit To wizard that lets you select one or more existing Limit Tos to apply to the selected folder.
Check the boxes next to the desired Limit Tos. This creates a composite Limit To that comprises all selected Limit Tos, in addition to the one you just configured throughout the wizard.
This composite Limit To is assigned to the selected folder, and can be added to additional folders if required through the Select Existing InfoScript option.
Edit Limit To Wizard
When you choose to edit a Limit To on a selected folder, if the existing Limit To is also assigned to other folders, you will be presented a prompt that indicates the number of folders that will be impacted by a change to the Limit To, with the option to proceed (Yes) or cancel (No).
Selecting Yes displays the Assignment level screen with the option for Will use one or more existing limit tos.
From this point, the functionality is similar to the New Limit To wizard (selecting one or more existing Limit Tos in addition to editing other aspects of the existing Limit To).
Note
If you edit a folder that has multiple Limit Tos and you don’t select Will use one or more existing limit tos, the multiples will be replaced with a single Limit To. You must use the Will use one or more existing limit tos option to retain the existing multiple Limit Tos on the folder.
Select Existing InfoScript Wizard
The list of existing infoscripts includes any composite Limit Tos that you’ve created. This lets you assign a composite Limit To to several different folders as needed.
Removing Limit Tos
Using the Remove Limit Tos option on a Product Catalog folder will remove ALL Limit Tos on the folder. If a folder has multiple Limit Tos assigned and you need to remove one, or a subset, use the Edit Limit To wizard where you can individually deselect the Limit Tos to be removed.
View Limit To Configurations
The View Limit To Configurations functionality provides a convenient method for creating and editing composite Limit Tos. This functionality is available via the View Limit To Configurations button on the Product Catalog tool bar. This button opens a grid listing all Limit To infoscripts. The Is Composite column, when set to True, indicates the Limit To is a composite, comprising two or more Limit Tos.
From this grid you can edit an existing Limit To, create a new Limit to, and view the InfoScript.
Editing
When you Edit a Limit to that is not currently assigned to any folders in the Product Catalog the Edit wizard automatically opens. You can then make any desired changes to the Limit To.
If the selected Limit to is assigned to one or more folders in the Product Catalog you will be presented a prompt that indicates the number of folders that will be impacted by a change to the Limit To, with the option to proceed (Yes) or cancel (No).
Creating a New Limit To
This is essentially the same as creating a new Limit To via the New Limit To wizard, except that you don’t select a folder where the Limit To will be assigned. Once configured you will have to navigate to each individual folder where you wish to have this Limit To assigned.
