Transfer transactions let you move inventory from one location to another, for example from a warehouse to a store to replenish stock. There are several transfer types to support different transfer requirements:
Requested transfers are created as a result of an inventory request.
Unsolicited transfers let you perform on-demand transfers independent of any inventory request. You can allow certain users to create an unsolicited transfer to any location, while only being able to receive transfers based on location configuration. This requires the following permission to be enabled: Allow transfer to All Active Locations (see Transfer Permissions). When enabled this will override the Authorized User configuration. Users with this permission enabled can create an unsolicited transfer to any location even if they are not in the list of authorized users for that location. The receive action will continue to function as it currently does. Only users configured as an authorized user in the destination location will be able to perform the receive action for the transfer.

Unsolicited Transfer & Receive at specific Locations
No (Red)

Perform Receives where allowed.

Note
This may require carriers to adjust their location configuration. Locations will need to be updated to remove any users that should not be performing the receive action for that store.
Return to Agent transfers are created when merchandise must be returned to the supplier, for example when merchandise is damaged or an order is filled incorrectly.
The work flow for initiating and completing transfers varies somewhat depending on the transfer type. For example, requested transfers are created by inventory requests and may or may not require approval, while unsolicited and return to agent transfers are created on-demand and do not require approval.

Setup Requirements
There are several prerequisites that must be in place before you begin using transfers. See Setup Requirements.
Transfer Approval Alerts
This applies to requested transfers which are created by inventory requests. If your Inventory Approval Plan is configured to require approval for requested transfers, when the user currently logged into the IDI Desktop Client is a designated approver and has open transfers pending approval, an alert icon, labeled with a red T will flash in the lower right corner of the IDI Desktop Client window.

Double-clicking the icon opens the Transfer Search Results window listing the transfers pending approval. From this window you can submit a transfer for approval, cancel a transfer, or perform various other transfer management functions by right-clicking the corresponding row and selecting the applicable command.
Accessing and Managing Existing Transfer Transactions
You may have transactions in several different states of completion. When you need to access an existing transaction for editing or some other transaction management function, The IDI solution provides two methods for searching your system. See About Transfer Search.
