Overview
A Subscriber Identity Module, or SIM, is a removable smart chip, or “brain,” of a digital cellular phone that uses GSM technology. It identifies a subscriber to a network.
A SIM card dealer, such as GemPlus, provides you with a data file that you use to keep track of the physical SIM cards, so you know at which store they are located (and from where they are consequently sold). SIM cards cannot be activated until they have been authenticated, or uploaded to the IDI platform.
The IDI platform manages the inventory of SIMs with its BackOffice function, which includes:
SIM Card File Upload
SIM Card Search
SIM Card File Status.
Permissions must be established in Admin Console in order to access SIM Management.
To enable the Upload File and View Status File icons for uploading and viewing status file privileges:
Access Security > Profiles > Permission profiles > CostGuard Client > SIM Management
To enable the View SIM Information icons for SIM-viewing privileges:
Access Security > Profiles > Permission profiles > CostGuard Client > Customer Management > Customers > Catalog Items

SIM Card Import Business Rules
There are business rules in Admin Console that control how SIM cards can be imported.

SIM Card Import PIN1/PIN2/PUK1/PUK2 (Flag)
If checked, the PIN/PUK fields can be in the order of PIN1-PIN2-PUK1-PUK2 --
as opposed to the default order of PIN1-PUK1-PIN2-PUK2.
SIM Card Import Allow Updates
If checked, this allows SIM Card records to be uploaded through SIM Card File Upload and update any existing matching SIM card entries in the SIMCard table --
as opposed to the default logic in the SIM Card Import which is to treat records in an import file that match an existing SIM Card in the IDI solution as a duplicate and to skip the import of that line.
SIM Card Import Formats
The SIM Card Import supports both GSM and LTE SIM Card import formats.
The import will assume that if the number of fields of the record is 15 that the record is an LTE record.
Otherwise it is assumed to be a GSM record (number of fields is 9).
