The Security node in Admin Console lets you configure user access to functionality in the IDI platform (IDI Desktop Client and Admin Console).

There are five main Security components:
Users - Each individual who uses the system (Client, Admin Console or Config Console) requires a user account with which to log in. When you create a user account, you assign the applicable profile(s), and you may assign the uq ser to a group if applicable.
Groups - Groups let you combine several users into a single entity for the purpose of assigning certain tasks such as managing follow-ups and approving inventory transfers [for wireless customers]. Assigning a task to a group rather than an individual user gives you better coverage to ensure the task is completed in a timely manner. For example, when a follow-up is assigned to a group, anyone in that group can take ownership of the follow-up.
Profiles - Permission Profiles establish the permissions that are applicable for each user class (for example, administrator, supervisor or customer representative). One or more profiles is assigned to each user account to grant the required permissions to each user. The ability to assign multiple profiles to a user reduces the actual number of profiles that you need to create, thus reducing profile overhead and maintenance.
Data profiles associate a piece of data that is used in processing transactions by a user.
Toolbar profiles are also assigned to users. Toolbar profiles are configured and managed via the IDI Desktop Client as described in Managing Client Toolbars and Toolbar Profiles.
Sessions - A session is an instance of a user login. A user may have several active sessions at the same time. The Sessions node under security lets you view and manage active sessions and view a session history.
Settings - You can configure these to establish rules/settings for managing and using passwords, sessions and login.
