The actual counting of inventory involves several steps.
Beginning a Count
At this point a count has been requested, but not yet started. With the appropriate permissions, you can still modify the settings and the included/excluded items before beginning the count.
The requested count may also be deleted.
To begin the count, you select the Begin Count menu item and the count is initialized and set to the In Progress status. (Prior to this point, the items themselves have not been selected for the count.) If the count contains include Catalog Categories and/or Catalog Groups, then at the time of Begin Count, the appropriate SKUs are found and initialized.
Once a count is past the Requested state, it can no longer be deleted and can only be Completed or Cancelled.
Since Adjustments and Inventory Counts cannot be open against the same item at the same time, if there are open adjustments for any items at this location that are on the count, you will receive a warning.
Counting
The counted values are entered on the Inventory Count Details window via the Non-Serialized form or the Serialized form.

When the counted values are saved, the system performs the variance check between the counted value and the system value.
The user may enter any notes on the Notes tab that may be helpful for the approver to see. For example, "I was unable to count SKU ABC because we no longer carry this item."
Submitting for Approval
When the counting is complete, the user can select Submit for Approval from the shortcut menu on the Inventory Account Approval window.
