Countries and Regions

Prev Next

Through the Data Management component, you can easily divide any country into regions and further define each region into dialed digits (city codes) and country groups. This information is used to display the city name on the usage detail section of an invoice for international terminating usage (calls). You can use Country Groups to designate Region/Dialed Digits combinations for use with particular carriers. This is useful if your customers are not all assigned to the same carrier and you need to apply different rates based on the carrier.

This information is also used on the Selected, Contributing, and Eligible Originating and Terminating Locations pages of discount configuration wizards when Country.Region is selected as the Location Type.

The Countries and Regions window feeds Countries, Regions and Dialed Digits. To set up and maintain the Countries and Regions table:

  • In Admin Console, access Data Management and double-click Countries and Regions. This displays the Countries and Regions window.

The Countries and Regions window contains the following information. The detail on the right is displayed when you click an existing entry in the left side of the Country and Regions window.

    Country ID

Unique number that is assigned to a country.

    Region ID

This number is manually entered into the table and is used to split the country into areas/regions for rating purposes. 0 indicates the entire country, while 999 is the default for all wireless services. Clicking a row on the left displays the City Codes for that region on the right. If you click a row with a Region = 0, all city codes for all regions in that country are displayed on the right. Clicking a row with any other value only displays the city codes for that region.

    Name

Name of the country associated with the Country ID, Region ID and Country Group.

    Country Group

Additional, user-defined category to group dialed digits within a country.

    Dialed Digits

City code associated with the selected Country ID, Region ID, and Country Group.

    City Name

    Name of the city.

The shortcut menu for this table lets you add, edit and delete countries and regions. See Working with Data Management Tables.

Once your initial countries and regions are defined, you can add details to the Countries and Regions information. This is done by defining the Country, Region, Country Group, and Dialed Digits Detail information. This lets you further break down each country and region into their respective city (dialed digits) codes. To do this, see:
