Term	Definition
Baseline	Date (or duration) the system calculates that the Workflow should be completed based on the durations configured in the Definition.
Business Process Definition	Collection of one or more structured and linked procedures which together realize a business objective or policy goal.
Editor Page	Graphical representation of a Business Process Definition in design mode.
Canvas	Graphical representation of a Business Process Definition on the Editor Page.
Conditional	Decision point within a Business Process Definition.
Definition	Designed Business Process containing Steps and Tasks to be completed once a Workflow is started.
Extended Data	Additional information used by the Workflow system. Global: Fields added by IDI. These are included by the system and are based on type of Workflow. These are used between IDI web applications. User-defined: Fields added to the Workflow system by users.
Layout	Graphical representation of a Workflow currently in progress or completed.
Overview	Current snapshot of a Workflow currently in progress or completed.
Participant	Resource which performs the work represented by a Task. A resource can be an automated resource, such as an automated Task, or a person.
Promote	Make a Business Process Definition active in the Production environment.
Rank	The order in which the Tasks are to be completed in a Workflow. Multiple Tasks can have the same rank if they can be worked on concurrently. The lowest numbered Rank gets the highest priority in the processing order.
Step	Group of Tasks within a Workflow which have the same actions or policies applied to all of the Tasks. In a Workflow, a Step cannot be started until all of the Tasks within the preceding Step have been completed.
Task	Activity that forms one logical operation within a Step. A Task may be manual (completed by an individual) or automated (completed by a machine resource).
Transition	Link between two items where there is a dependency. For example, a transition can be a link between two Steps where the first must be completed before the second can begin. Or, within a Step, it can be a link between two Tasks where the Task with the lower-numbered rank must be completed before one with a higher-numbered rank can begin. On a canvas or layout, a transition is depicted as an arrow between two items.
Workflow	The running instance of a Defined Business Process having its own status and extended data.
Worklist	List of in-progress Workflows or Tasks associated with a given Workflow participant.
